Look at the full picture: closing costs, monthly payments, remaining loan term, and how long you expect to keep the loan. A lower payment alone doesn’t establish overall savings.
It may be an option, subject to qualification. Compare total costs and repayment terms carefully: using your home to secure previously unsecured debt puts the home at risk if payments are not made.
A home equity loan is debt with a repayment schedule. A home equity investment or agreement provides an upfront payment in exchange for a future settlement based partly on your home’s value. Compare the settlement formula, timing, fees, and any restrictions carefully.
